A Little Background Infomation
My name is Chelsea Campbell, and I graduated from University of Kansas with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics in May 2014. Along with my degree, I was also a part of the UKanTeach program, which is an education program dedicated to training future math and science teachers in inquiry based teaching methods. Being a part of this program allowed me to achieve a deep math understanding as well as a teaching certificate upon graduation.
Now, how did I decide I wanted to be a Math Teacher? Well, it wasn't always my dream. I was like most students when I came to college and had no idea what I really wanted to do with my life. I did know two things, however. My passions in life were math and helping others. After trying out many majors, I finally decided that I didn't need a major that used a lot of math. I could just major in math, which is exactly what I did. Then, came the question: what are you going to do with a math degree? That is when I found the UKanTeach program. After taking my first teaching class through this program, I was hooked. I was extremely interested in the inquiry teaching methods and how students can learn so much more by letting them discover the math on their own.
My teaching philosophy is :
- To create an environment where every student is challenged to reach their fullest potential
- To build their knowledge of math.
- To inspire my students to become better as a person
